The second Indigenous Economic Development Forum

With the theme Our Place, Our Progress, Our Potential, the forum is to be held in Darwin on 25 and 26 May 2005 at the Crowne Plaza, Mitchell Street. The Forum will launch the Northern Territory Indigenous Economic Development Strategy and showcase Indigenous economic business activity.

The Forum is intended to be a frank and open discussion, primarily between Indigenous participants, on the key issues concerning Indigenous economic development. Specifically, presenters and participants will be asked to examine reasons for success and failure with a view to learning lessons from the range of processes (eg. governance and training) involved in Indigenous business development.

This Forum will be an important gathering of Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders in economic development with opportunities for networking and information sharing. One outcome of the Forum should be a clearer understanding of what is needed to make Indigenous businesses and employment strategies succeed.
