Welcome to the Second Indigenous Economic Development Conference.

The second Indigenous Economic Development Forum in Darwin on 25 and 26 May 2005 showcased a range of success stories of Indigenous business activity.

More than 200 people from urban, regional and remote Territory communities and other parts of Australia attended the event.

A highlight of the forum was the launch, by Chief Minister Clare Martin, of the Government’s new Indigenous Economic Development Strategy (link).

Presentations were made in the key sectors of Horticulture and Bush Food, Tourism and Parks, Mining and Major Enterprises: Arts, Knowledge and Media, Retail and Service, Natural Resource Management, and Pastoral and Aquaculture are available. Key presenters come from large and small businesses, including Coles Myer Limited, Newmont Tanami Operations, Indigenous Foods Australia, Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation, Kungkas Can Cook, Mapurr Homelands an Baru Kadal Dance Theatre are just some.
